Today at Time Warner Cable in Herndon, Va., our dedicated energy team begin the second Plenary Meeting of 2015 with an international video address from Balan Nair, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Liberty Global and Co-Chair Energy 2020. Balan reiterated some of the key points he made at the SCTE-Tuck Executive Leadership Program — that the growing cost of energy is impacting operational expenses — and stressed the importance of the industry working together to develop solutions that can drive better efficiencies in every area of cable system operations worldwide.
Over the next two days, SCTE Standards Program members of the Energy Management Subcommittee will be discussing energy metrics, operations processes, and energy efficient technologies to further the development of the standards and operational practices that will ensure energy availability is not an obstruction to the growth and competitiveness of our industry. The ‘energy’ in the room is contagious and I am excited to share highlights of the industry-changing technical solutions discussed in this meeting. You can learn more about the industry effort to envision and enable what energy will look like in cable in the year 2020 by getting involved and supporting Energy 2020.
