“FCC Chairman Talks Up SDN/NFV,” read the headline to a recent story in Light Reading that covered chairman Tom Wheeler’s speech at the Brookings Institution, where he extolled the virtues of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) technology. In his speech, Wheeler predicted that SDN/NFV will revolutionize broadband networks and as such will deliver an impact on society that will exceed what railroad and telegraph networks achieved in the 19th century.

Like Wheeler at Brookings, subject matter experts will be talking up SDN/NFV at the technical workshops set for SCTE Cable-Tec Expo® 2015 in mid-October in New Orleans. In workshops such as “Exploring Network as a Service (NaaS)” and “New Core Architectures for SDN and 100G,” Expo attendees will learn how to capitalize on the remarkable advancements that SDN/NFV is bringing forth.

As your technical leader, SCTE keeps you prepared for significant, favorable changes that technologies like SDN/NFV are bringing to the cable telecommunications landscape. One powerful way SCTE will do that is through SCTE Cable-Tec Expo® 2015—so plan now to be there.
